"Cashmeran is a dry, radiant, warm woody accord with an unexpected hint of pine sap," says Geza Schön, "and it inspired me to create a different summer fragrance."
I wanted to evoke the feeling of being by the sea, but not with the usual marine notes, which I find too artificial.
I wanted to recreate the experience of being on a Mediterranean island.
The top notes of Escentric 05 are very simple: bergamot to keep things light and orange, an ingredient with an emotional undertone: brightness and happiness.
This reflects the orange groves that grow on this island.
Laurels and rosemary are typical Mediterranean plants with a sharp freshness, junipers add a grassy tone and cypresses are very dry conifers.
The drydown reveals two classic Mediterranean components: woolly salt and mastic.
Mastic is a resin secreted by low trees that grow especially close to the sea. It has a clean and sharp smell of freshly cut branches.
Seaweeds are small plants that are common throughout the Mediterranean region. They have a sweet, leathery, balsamic quality that I love.
And of course, it contains about 15% cashmere, which gives the aroma a piney warmth.
In addition, I included subtle notes of figs: both bitter leaves and ripe fruit.
Figs had to be in this fragrance because we have a ficus tree on the island near our house.
The fig note here looks authentic and reminds me of a happy summer by the sea."
